Gold Coast University Hospital Balcony Makeover
We were so excited to recently work with Gold Coast University Hospital’s Newborn Care Unit on a project to revamp their outdoor terrace.
Our very own ‘TLC for Kids Balcony’ was officially opened with a plaque unveiling on Wednesday 6 December, with staff and volunteers from the Hospital and Bunnings in attendance.
The Hospital staff envisaged an enhanced outdoor space for patients and families to enjoy as part of their recovery process and contacted us to see if we could help. We have worked alongside the hospital for the past two years, responding to 29 Rapid TLC requests in that time, and so were all too happy to help bring the project together.
Thanks to crucial support from local suppliers Bunnings Warehouse, Dulux and Searles, the ‘TLC for Kids Balcony’ now includes a children’s play area, a refurbished outdoor seating area with newly installed medical oxygen and air outlets for babies’ dependent on respiratory support, an outdoor umbrella to provide some shade over the courtyard and new plants and freshly painted garden beds.
We hope the new ‘TLC for Kids Balcony’ will provide a moment of escape or quiet for the families in the Newborn Care Unit.
